Fishy Fun At Beavercreek Elementary

Did you know that Beavercreek was recently the temporary home of hundreds of Rainbow Trout fry? Maybe your student came home talking about the fish tank in the media center! See the blurb below from our 5th grade teacher, Mr. K, who was the facilitator of this fun project that captured the curiosity of our whole building!

“Our Rainbow Trout eggs have completed part of their life cycle with us here in the building.  They arrived on January 25th as eyed eggs, hatched the weekend of February 5th, and grew to the stage of ‘fry’ by March 1st.  That evening, under the observation of 5th grade student, Aldin, and his mom, they were released into Canby Pond to begin the next chapter of their life stories.  We are grateful to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife for this wonderful learning experience!”

Check out some pictures below of various stages of the trout! You can see them arriving as eyed eggs, and being released into the river as fry!
